Never left behind
Designed to stay out of the case
While most high end ukuleles need to be kept in a case with a humidifier and babied, this ukulele was designed to stay out of the case, ready to play at all times. KLOS Acoustic ukuleles are durable, with temperature and humidity having no effect on carbon fiber. Our mission is to make ukuleles that are never left behind. Now with a KLOS, you can take your ukulele with you and have the piece of mind that it’s durable and reliable.
RUGGED AND DURABLE
Discover Carbon Fiber
Carbon fiber is significantly more durable than wood, and more resilient to dents, cracking and the elements. While a carbon fiber ukulele is still an instrument that deserves respect and love, at KLOS we believe that it should be treated more like a piece of gear that is never left behind.
Achieving the perfect playability is an art, and that’s what makes a ukulele easy to play. The nut, frets, and bridge all have an influence on the string playability, getting them all to work together perfectly is what makes a ukulele feel like home. Here at KLOS we take playability very seriously, that’s why we put a lot of attention into leveling the frets, filing the nuts, and adjusting the saddles. Each ukulele then gets played up and down the neck by our inspectors to confirm it’s worthy to have a KLOS logo and go out the door.
How Does It Sound?
How does a carbon fiber ukulele sound, compared to wood? If you do a blind test, most people can’t tell the difference. That being said, comparing carbon fiber to wood, there are a lot more variables that you can more precisely control to achieve a great sound, and that is exactly what we did.
Ships from our factory in Salt Lake City Utah
We are proud to have our factory located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, which was the original inspiration for combining adventure with ukuleles. We are proud to do the design, assembly, and most of the building in our own factory in Utah, and we buy parts and materials from world renowned factories overseas.
OUR PEOPLE ARE OUR ADVANTAGE
Crafted with Care
A big question we ask ourselves is: which part of the guitar building process requires the most skill, and impacts the player the most? The first half or the second half? Our answer: the second half. So we outsource some parts and materials (the first half), and keep the second half of the manufacturing process in house, and do it ourselves. This allows us to scale as a company and focus on building quality instruments that are incredible to play.
WOOD MEETS CARBON
The Hybrid models have a wood neck and a carbon fiber body. The main design principle comes from this question: what is the weakest link in a traditional wood ukulele? The answer is: the body, because it is made out of thin wood that needs to resonate. So the KLOS Hybrid was born by strengthening the weakest link. With a carbon fiber body you get excellent durability and resilience to temperature and humidity.
The KLOS Hybrid Neck
The hybrid wood neck features a composite fretboard. The fretboard on the neck is a composite synthetic ebony which does not expand or contract with temperature or humidity changes or with time. That means you will never have issues with sharp frets, and your great great grandchildren won’t either. The beautiful ebony-like fretboard is dense, durable and smooth. While the Hybrid Neck is significantly more resilient than a standard wood neck, it is still made out of wood, that being said, we recommend that you treat it with care the same way that you wood a regular wood neck. If you are looking for something even more rugged, our Full carbon series is the choice for you.
FOR JOURNEYS LARGE AND SMALL
KLOS Uke gig bag
The gig bag materials are made from the same stuff that camping backpacks are made out of, making it durable and reliable. With the ukulele itself being very durable, a traditional hard case is not as necessary for most day to day use, making the KLOS soft case gig bag is the perfect choice for the KLOS ukulele.
COMPACT AND ICONIC
The headstock is a compact shape, making the overall length of the neck shorter. It makes tuning your strings just as comfortable, yet feel lighter. The tuners are the heaviest part of the neck, so keeping the weight of the tuners down, and having a lightweight carbon neck will make ukulele playing for hours even more enjoyable.
The headstock break angle is 11 degrees, making it the optimal angle to have the perfect string force on the nut. This lowers the friction of the string on the nut, which lowers the chances of your strings going out of tune on their own, and makes tuning your strings more precise. When you look at the neck from a front view, you will also see that the strings go in almost a straight line, which also lowers the friction on the nut, which also helps create optimal tuning.
Klos Silver tenor
My overall experience with Klos has been excellent. Their customer service is outstanding, providing me with an exchange, that benefited both of us. Klos dose not advertise colored bodies but there are a few left, just ask.
Love my new Hybrid Travel Guitar!
I’ve been searching for the perfect travel guitar for years. I had a Voyage Air collapsible guitar and it was nice, but it was still a large backpack when disassembled and I had some issues when placing it in an overhead compartment. I watched some YouTube videos and decided on the Klos Hybrid Travel over the Journey. Definitely the right decision! I got the B Stock to save a few bucks but can’t even detect any flaw or defect. This guitar unpacks so small but has a really bright loud sound. It’s also the perfect couch guitar so it checks off all the boxes. I travel frequently to Florida, Colorado, Montana and Portugal and this will be my constant companion for years to come.
My favorite uke!
I have 14 ukes and at one point in time would buy one a year. I’ve slowed down a lot recently. Until I picked up this guy. A buddy of mine said I needed to try it and am I glad I did! It’s so comfortable to play. It sounds amazing, and I love that it’s more durable. It looks super cool too! My favorite thing is how easy it is to play, it was just engineered differently for best playability. Love love love it!
A Solid Great Sounding Uke
I love the tone and build of this instrument. I am fairly new to ukulele playing, but have played acoustic guitar for many years. Having owned and played carbon fiber guitars from a former maker, one of the things I noticed was the well balanced weight versus my guitars being quite neck-heavy. The Klos ukulele is high quality and a good value. Looking forward to learning and having this as my travel companion.
There's something about this guitar...
There's something different about the sound of this guitar. I wasn't expecting it to sound as nice as a high quality guitar built from choice tone woods, and maybe it doesn't. It's really a matter of opinion I suppose, but at first I wasn't impressed much by the tonal quality, but after playing it for several minutes it started growing on me. It has a really unique rich sound that is different from a wood guitar, but really beautiful in its own right. I have several good to excellent quality wood guitars and they all sound different; they all have different personalities. And they all grew on me, just like this one. Certainly if you opt for the onboard electronics package you could make this guitar sound at least as good as any other acoustic with a high quality pick-up and effects, but I wanted something to take camping, or to the beach, so nowhere to plug in there. So enough about the guitar itself except to say that it has a great neck, is perfectly set up out of the box, easy to remove/reinstall the neck for traveling, has great action, sounds great, and is a blast to play. Let me tell you about the service. It's great also! The customer service at KLOS treated me like I was their single most important customer. And shipping speed; from placing the order to receiving my instrument with a custom engraving add-on (which adds more time) was about two weeks; much less than I was expecting considering the website claims that adding options (such as the engraving) can add between 1-2 weeks to delivery time. So to sum up, great sounding, high quality, fun to play, great customer service all from a guitar that you can breakdown, pack in a travel bag and set back up again in under 20 minutes at a price comparable to any high quality instrument of this caliber that is not affected by temperature and humidity changes. All this from a company that builds its instruments right here in the USA! I'm hooked!
