Hear the KLOS difference for yourself
NEVER LEFT BEHIND
Designed to stay out of the case
While most high end guitars need to be kept in a case with a humidifier and babied, this guitar was designed to stay out of the case, ready to play at all times. KLOS Acoustic guitars are durable, with temperature and humidity having no effect on carbon fiber. Our mission is to make guitars that are never left behind. Now with a KLOS, you can take your guitar with you and have the piece of mind that it’s durable and reliable.
RUGGED AND DURABLE
Discover Carbon Fiber
Carbon fiber is significantly more durable than wood, and more resilient to dents, cracking and the elements. While a carbon fiber guitar is still an instrument that deserves respect and love, at KLOS we believe that it should be treated more like a piece of gear that is never left behind.
Achieving the perfect playability is an art, and that’s what makes a guitar easy to play. The nut, frets, truss rod, and bridge, all have an influence on the string playability, getting them all to work together perfectly is what makes a guitar feel like home. Here at KLOS we take playability very seriously, that’s why we put a lot of attention into leveling the frets, filing the nuts, and adjusting the saddles. Each guitar then gets played up and down the neck by our inspectors to confirm it’s worthy to have a KLOS logo and go out the door.
HOW DOES IT SOUND?
How does a carbon fiber guitar sound, compared to wood? If you do a blind test, most people can’t tell the difference. That being said, comparing carbon fiber to wood, there are a lot more variables that you can more precisely control to achieve a great sound, and that is exactly what we did.
Ships from our factory in Salt Lake City, Utah
We are proud to have our factory located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, which was the original inspiration for combining adventure with guitars. We are proud to do the design, assembly, and most of the building in our own factory in Utah, and we buy parts and materials from world renowned factories overseas.
OUR PEOPLE ARE OUR ADVANTAGE
Crafted with Care
A big question we ask ourselves is: which part of the guitar building process requires the most skill, and impacts the player the most? The first half or the second half? Our answer: the second half. So we outsource some parts and materials (the first half), and keep the second half of the manufacturing process in house, and do it ourselves. This allows us to scale as a company and focus on building quality instruments that are incredible to play.
Do I want a Travel or Full Size?
Our KLOS Acoustic Full size guitar sounds like a great quality wood guitar, and the KLOS travel size guitar sounds great but with a smaller sound. If you really want a great tone, we recommend you buy the full size guitar, if you want a small guitar for travel, but still a surprisingly loud sound, then you should get the travel guitar.
The bolt-on neck is one of the game-changing features of our guitars. It’s perfect for those moments when you need to put it in a suitcase or you are in a crunch for space. Since guitars in general are very portable, making them durable and easy to travel with is naturally the best solution. All our guitars have the detachable neck function.
The Hybrid wood necks, and the carbon necks have four metal threaded inserts that are permanently installed, in which the four bolts go into, allowing you to take the neck on and off an unlimited amount of times.
Bolt on Acoustic guitars are not very common because they are difficult to design out of wood, but with the KLOS patented injection molded neck block, we were able to achieve incredible results and have all the benefits of a detachable neck on an acoustic guitar.
FOR JOURNEYS LARGE AND SMALL
KLOS Convert gig bag
The patented KLOS Convert Gig Bag has the unique feature of having 2 modes of operation. It works as a standard gig bag when the guitar is fully assembled, and also when the neck is detached, unbolted and collapsed. That’s right, the same bag works for when the guitar is folded and when it’s fully assembled. When the neck is detached, the neck goes in the neck sleeve, on the side of the folded gig bag.
The gig bag materials are made from the same stuff that camping backpacks are made out of, making it durable and reliable. With the guitar itself being very durable, a traditional hard case is not as necessary for most day to day use, making the KLOS soft case gig bag is the perfect choice for the KLOS guitar.
COMPACT AND ICONIC
The headstock is a compact shape, making the overall length of the neck shorter, with a 3+3 tuner pattern that still has the same spacing as a 6 in a row, making tuning your strings just as comfortable, yet feel lighter. The tuners are the heaviest part of the neck, so keeping the weight of the tuners down, and having a lightweight carbon neck will make guitar playing for hours even more enjoyable.
The headstock break angle is 11 degrees, making it the optimal angle to have the perfect string force on the nut. This lowers the friction of the string on the nut, which lowers the chances of your strings going out of tune on their own, and makes tuning your strings more precise. When you look at the neck from a front view, you will also see that the strings go in almost a straight line, which also lowers the friction on the nut, which also helps create optimal tuning.
ENGINEERED TO OUTLAST
The carbon neck has a truss rod like most wood guitar necks, but it’s not for the purpose of strength, it’s for the purpose of adjusting the bow of the neck to the exact preference of every player. We adjust the truss rod to the most popular neck relief in our factory , but it can be easily adjusted by every musician with the included wrench.
The fretboard on the neck is a composite synthetic ebony which does not expand or contract with temperature or humidity changes or with time. That means you will never have issues with sharp frets, and your great great grandchildren won’t either. The beautiful ebony-like fretboard is dense, durable and smooth.
STRESS-TESTED FOR REAL LIFE
Design of the carbon neck
A guitar neck is long and thin, which is why it is even more important that it is stronger, lighter and more reliable than any wood neck.
The most common place for a wood neck to break is where the neck meets the headstock. With a carbon neck, this position is equally as strong as any other part of the neck, so you can rest assured that you have the strongest neck in the world.
Even better than expected...and I expected a lot!
After getting a KLOS hybrid travel guitar on a Black Friday sale and being deeply impressed, I ordered a full-carbon full size. I expected to like it, but even so was blown away by the sound quality, unplugged and plugged in (I installed a K&K pickup). The other thing that impresses me every time I pick up the guitar is how playable they are - these are premium instruments. I bought them to have a durable alternative to taking out my Martins to play at the lake or when the weather is uncooperative, and ended up with an instrument I like just as well as the others. They've got this dialed in. There are rumblings about KLOS making mandolins in the future, and there's a real good chance that I'll be buying one. Highly recommended!
Thanks for the awesome review Russell! We couldn't be happier that we were able to impress you with our full carbon full size guitar. And that mandolin is coming very soon, so be on the lookout!
Will be my plane guitar, is on the Mayan coast with me right now where humidity is extreme so far no issues sounds great better than any travel guitar I have owned. The ease of travel is great no more checking my guitars or looking for the oversized baggage at airports .
I have taken the guitar to mammoth mountain for strumming cords after skiing. It kept tune through the travels and plays well. This is a great guitar to learn on and the 3/4 size really makes a difference when traveling.
Best Christmas Gift!
Loving having a quality guitar again! My wife gave me the full-size carbon fiber guitar for Christmas & I’m so enjoying playing again. Also looking forward to having music on our annual canoe-damping trip.
Be sure to send any photos you get from your trip our way! We are so glad to hear you are loving your new guitar. Keep it KLOS!
Love it but don't expect dreadnaught sound.
This guitar is a joy to play, I love the small size. I plan to take it camping and my camper is small. It seems well built and plays well. Action is good and the frets are on point, no buzzing. The only negative is due to the small size the sound is small too. Not much bass but that is perfectly fine given the travel purpose.
Most favourable. Nico was very pleasant to deal with and my son who lives in high humidity Costa Rica is happy to have a guitar that should not come unglued like other wood constructed guitars have.
